Game Jam Edition Complete
Hello!
After a long April, I finally got the Game Jam Edition of The Catastrophists to a point where I consider it complete and fully usable. While I am proud of this little milestone, it may not be clear to those outside my head what exactly this means. The game that's been available the last month was fully playable, but I've been cleaning up some errors and working on providing more guidance for GMs over the last few weeks, without letting myself get dragged down into more ambitious changes or additions.
As of this update, I've added an entire page of guidance on the forms that the "Endgame" phase of the game might take and several pages that walk through what a plot map might look like as the events of the game continue. It's my hope that, with these additions, the actual play of the game will be easier and end up producing sessions that carry through the intended feeling of the game!
What's next?
Next I start the longer and slower work of more fully personalizing the excellent Charge SRD's implementation in the book, fitting it more closely to the tone & atmosphere of the game, adding a chapter on playing the game that should help players get a better handle on what their Details, Skills, and Talents do in the game, and generally fleshing the whole thing into a more cohesive work. I'm also trying to figure out how best to make the Setting Worksheet available as a separate file.
Anyone who's bought already the game will have access to this new final edition when it's available, but the game will no longer be Pay What You Want once it's released and the price will go up by quite a bit.
That said, I am always open to feedback and corrections if someone finds a typo or error in the game jam edition, character sheet, or setting worksheet.
